I’m currently…
Watching…
Broadchurch. I had watched the first episode last week and finally caught up with the show yesterday. HOLY FREAKING COW! This show is very powerful and has some majorly dark themes to it. There are only two episodes left and I have my theories on who the killer is, but I’m not totally sure. I can’t wait to find out!
Here’s the trailer for the show:
Wanting…
Birthday Cake tea. I was at West Edmonton Mall the other day picking up my computer from the Apple store and wandered into David’s Tea, a store that EVERYONE seems to be raving about. I saw a tin for Birthday Cake tea, but never did pick it up (mainly because I had bought 4 seasons of Doctor Who and other Doctor Who paraphernalia in the last week). Now I’m regretting it! I know there’s a David’s Tea in Sherwood Park, which is a little closer than WEM, so I *may* have to go there and get some one of these days.
Eating…
Hamburgers! I made the first batch of BBQ hamburgers this past week and it was SOOOOO GOOD! I only wish that I had fresh corn on the cob to go with it, but there’s still a ton of snow on the ground, so “fresh” veggies won’t be available for a while.
Listening To…
Audiobooks. Seriously. I didn’t listen to ANY music this week, but managed to listen to three audiobooks. This is mainly because I’m preparing for Audiobook Month in June, so I’m trying to listen to ALL the audiobooks. My pile is HIGH so hopefully I can get to them all!
YouTubing…
I didn’t watch a lot of YouTube videos in the past few weeks, but did love this video by Alex Day and Tom Milson:
Excited about…
The Esi Edugyan event on Tuesday! There have been some wonderful authors in the capital city in the last little while. Michael Ondaatje came about a month ago, but I had to miss the event because snowmageddon came to town and I was trapped at home. BUT it’s now borderline-Spring, so I’m hoping that we don’t get a crazy storm on Tuesday. I’ve already mapped out directions to the event AND parking, AND I bought her book, Half Blood Blues, the other day. I am READY!
Sorry, no video this week. I had INTENDED to do my happy-dance video since I totally caught up with my reading, but I am not really in a video-making mood today. And I need to shower. No one needs to see me in my jammies.
ANYWAY, I was a reading rock star this week! I had my plan and I totally stuck to it! I wanted to catch up with my Book Hoarder’s Selection reads and I’m reading the last book now — all others have been read!
Last week I read:
What Alice Forgot, by Liane Moriarti
The Miseducation of Cameron Post, by Emily M. Danforth
Patient Zero (Joe Ledger, #1), by Jonathan Maberry (audiobook)
The Replacement, by Brenna Yovanoff
Two-Way Street, by Lauren Barnholdt (audiobook)
Matched (Matched, #1), by Ally Condie
Jellicoe Road, by Melina Marchetta (audiobook)
Just One Day (Just One Day, #1), by Gayle Forman
Beyond Lies the Wub, by Philip K. Dick (short story)
Let The Sky Fall, by Shannon Messenger
The last book was a book I read through Simon & Schuster’s PulseIt program — have you signed up for it? It looks like each week a new book or two is offered up as a “read now” option, which is pretty cool. Of course, you have to read the book before it expires because then it goes from the full read to just an excerpt. So far I’m loving it!
I’m currently reading Deadly Appearances by Gail Bowen, which is the LAST Book Hoarder’s Selection book that’s on my list. Once I finish it, I plan to attack review books!
This week, I plan to read:
I’m also hoping that maybe I could get to Half Blood Blues before the Esi Edugyan event, but WHO KNOWS. This is already a pretty ambitious list for the week, anyway.
Catch up on the blog:
I admit my addiction to Han Zimmer’s “I Never Woke Up in Handcuffs Before” from Sherlock Holmes.
I reviewed I Could Pee on This (And Other Poems by Cats) by Francesco Marciuliano — and learned I’m a dog person.
I reviewed Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, a classic that just wasn’t for me.
I was in the kitchen making sourdough bread! Can you smell it?
I shared one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written, but one where I’ve never gotten the recording just right.
As well as Reading In Winter:
I reviewed Never Enough by Denise Jaden — a book about eating disorders that just wasn’t for me.
I reviewed the first book in a new favourite series of mine, The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han!
I talked about the feeling I get sometimes to quit blogging — and learn I’m not alone!
Book Hoarder’s Selection is back! My first pick now that I’m caught up? Just One Day by Gayle Forman.
I shared my Week Two update for the Anna and the French Kiss read-along!
Have a good week, everyone!
